Minor League Recap: Doug Nikhazy Impresses for the Clippers

Minor League Recap for Thursday, July 11th, 2024

Clippers 3, Indians 1

Doug Nikhazy threw six scoreless innings, struck out eight, allowed two hits and walked NONE. Folks... he might be getting close to major-league ready. Juan Brito had a walk and a hit and Estevan Florial hit a homer.

Rubber Ducks 6, Fightin’ Phils 3

Austin Peterson had another solid start for Akron going five innings with five K’s, three walks, one hit and two runs. Petey Halpin hit a homer and is climbing back up the offensive boards, and C.J. Kayfus collected another two hits.

Captains 5, Lugnuts 2

Jose Burgos hit a two-run homer and Alex Mooney had another double to back a good start from Rorik Maltrud and another excellent relief outing from Magnus Ellerts in the ninth, a reliever who is raising some eyebrows and should probably make his way to Akron soon.

Shorebirds 7, Hillcats 4

Jaison Chourio had a hit and three walks, Rafael Ramirez had two hits and a walk, including a homer, but the Hillcats pitching didn’t hold up.

Complex League Scores:
DSL Cle Goryl 3, DSL Tampa Bay 2
ACL DBacks 6, ACL Guardians 5

Welbyn Francisca had three hits including two doubles for the ACL Guardians (watch out, folks, he looks legit) and Yeiferth Castillo had two hits for the DSL Guardians and is running a .965 OPS as a 16 year-old centerfielder.
