MARSHALL COUNTY, KS (KSNT) - The family of Camoran Shoptese is speaking out about the devastation caused by his death.

"On the inside he cared for everybody," Ratzloff said. "He looked like a big, strong, scary guy but he would do anything for anybody in a heartbeat. He didn't deserve this and he had a very big heart."

The KBI says they have a person of interest in custody on unrelated charges and that the investigation is ongoing. They also say there's is no reason to believe the community is in any further danger.

Ratzloff says Shoptese's daughter wanted the following statement shared with the public.

My dad, Camoran Shoptese was tragically taken away from us on July 4th. He leaves behind 3 children, his parents, sisters and many, many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. Our family will fight hard for justice brought to everyone involved. Please put yourself in our shoes and we ask that anyone with information reports to [the] KBI.
