New Vietnamese restaurant to open in Manhattan

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - A unique dining option is coming soon to downtown Manhattan.

In less than two weeks, Pho Viet will be opening its doors to become the first Vietnamese restaurant in Manhattan, and the only one for nearly 50 miles.

When Jason Le and his wife moved to Manhattan 14 years ago, they were surprised that there was no food from their native country, Vietnam. After five years of owning a local nail salon, Manhattan Nails, Jason wanted to change that.

"The top of my bucket list, that I'm really accomplished," Le said. "I feel really accomplished my life dream. Because, I always wanted to have a restaurant."

Le's goal is to make his customers happy.

"I don't want to disappoint them," Le said. "I want to have a nice, hot, steamy bowl of pho come right in on the table in front of them and they can smell the scent of pho, the herbs."

If you've never tried it, he said there's nothing to be afraid of.

"It's beef," Le said. "If you live in Kansas, of course you know the steak, you know the beef."

If you want to order special, he said the menu is fully customizable, and you will know what you're getting when you order.

"This is my dream come true, for I would say 75%," Le said. "Then, the other 25 is the grand opening day to see every single customer step in with a surprise smile, and leave the place with a smile, and spread the word for others and continue coming back. Now, when I see that, now that I consider success of my dream."

Pho Viet is scheduled to open Wednesday, July 24. The restaurant is also hiring for all positions. Le encourages potential employees to walk in and apply at 405 Poyntz Ave.
