Riley County first responders compete in blood drive

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Thursday and Friday are the Battle of the Badges in Riley County. This is the 21st annual blood drive competition between the different first responders in the area.

Donors arriving for the competition are given a choice for which unit they'd like to represent. The Riley County Police Department is the reigning champion.

Jordan Drake is a Riley County Police Correctional Officer, and was at the event on July 11.

"It gives us some bragging rights," Drake said. "A little picking on each other for the next couple months. It'd be really great if people could come out. They can help donate, and you know just help this community."

The Red Cross is hosting the drive at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan. On Friday, July 12 people are welcome to walk in from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
