2024 USA National Karate Championships begin in Cajundome
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Cajundome is brimming with competition as the 2024 USA National Karate Championships and team trials are underway.
Thursday featured the Kata and the Kobudo, both opportunities for athletes to showcase their martial arts skills. Kobudo shows off with weapons systems and different weapons while the Kata does not.
Elizabeth Cox picked up national championship golds in both events.
"Pretty great because I've been doing it for 11 years. So I mean, just. Getting getting golds. Amazing. But getting gold at a national level is like just a different feeling," she said Friday, as the Kumite gets started.
