Formed in 1906, I think this could well have been the first time Rangers had taken on Farnham Town?

A young R’s squad included a number of trialists, and faced a side who had just been promoted to the Isthmian League, South Central Division.

Included in the Farnham starting eleven was former QPR goalkeeper, Marcin Brzozowski.

It was the home side who created the first attempt at goal on just three minutes. After Shay Brennan had collected Darryl Sanders through ball, he fired his shot directly at Callum Loades.

Farnham were certainly having the best of it and it was no surprise when they took the lead after 20 minutes when Darryl Sanders, positioned at the far post, hooked the ball into the net.

A short outbreak of heavy rain, accompanied by blustery wind, followed a couple of minutes later.

QPR’s first real shot of the afternoon arrived on 24 minutes from one of the trialists.

The home side doubled their lead on 29 minutes. Following a high ball into the box, the R’s keeper collided with the Farnham No.11and Harry Cooksley then made no mistake with his spot-kick.

Five minutes or so later, Callum Loades made a superb point-blank save from Jack Dean’s header.

Then, Lewis Flatman’s 25-yard free kick flew just over the crossbar. Half-time: 0-2.

Into the second-half and La ‘Trell Jones came on to replace Callum Loades in goal. Also introduced were; Jaiden Putman, Hassan Hamid, Jack McDowell, Kemoko Keita-Turay, Luka Radojevic, Emmerson Sutton and Lorenzo Strachan

Farnham had the ball in the net from a close-range header, but it was flagged offside.

A third goal did arrive on 58 minutes. After the ball had been given away, Duarte Martins took full advantage.

A Rangers trialist’s strike from 20-yards was tipped over the crossbar.

Joe Jackson scored a fourth on 72 minutes when, after turning in the box, he slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

On 40 minutes as the R’s were about to take a free kick, Farnham changed goalkeepers. The ball was then blasted well over the bar.

Paul Furlong’s side travel to Hitchin on Friday to take on Bedford Town.

Thanks to Sammy for the lift.
