La Traviata on stage as Pafos Aphrodite Festival makes comeback

It has been a while since we’ve written about the Pafos Aphrodite Festival, not for reasons of overlooking it, it just has not been organised since 2019. First, due to Covid-19 limitations and then for staffing reasons. Earlier this year, the festival announced it would be returning in 2024 and launched an open call to welcome opera productions.

Happening in September, an opera has now been confirmed and opera fans, Paphos residents and enthusiasts from all over the island can look forward to the new, long-awaited edition.

Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, one of the greatest operas of the classical repertoire, will be presented at the square of Paphos Medieval Castle. The opera performance dates are September 6 and 7 with performers from the Tbilisi State Opera, Tbilisi State Ballet and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra joining forces on stage.

And that’s not all the glamour the production has in store. Various world-renowned artists will accompany the choir, orchestra and ballet company as the festival prepares for its highly-anticipated comeback. Tickets for the opera are now on sale on www.ticketmaster.cy
