Alasdair Gold has revealed that Troy Parrott is now set to have a medical with AZ Alkmaar before sealing a move to the Eredivisie club.
Troy Parrott is to undergo medical at AZ Alkmaar
Parrott enjoyed an outstanding 2023-24 season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, netting 17 goals for the Dutch side across the campaign.
It has been widely reported that the forward has emerged as a target for several clubs on the back of his impressive showing at Rotterdam, with a few Eredivisie sides particularly keen on securing his services (Algemeen Dagblad via FC Update).
The writing seemed on the wall for the 22-year-old when Spurs insider, Paul O’Keefe, confirmed earlier this week that the striker is not training with the Tottenham first-team squad at Hotspur Way since an offer from Alkmaar was imminent.
A return to the Netherlands awaits Parrott
It now appears as if a bid from the Eredivisie giants might have been accepted by Tottenham after Gold has taken to social media this morning to state that the Republic of Ireland is on his way to the Netherlands to undergo a medical.
This information has also been backed up by Football Insider, who add that Parrott is on the verge of sealing a permanent switch to Alkmaar.
Spurs Web Opinion
At 22 years of age, Parrott would have wanted to play regularly and he was not likely to get that at Tottenham considering the competition for places.
Postecoglou and the decision-makers at Spurs were evidently not convinced that the striker had what it took to make it in the Premier League.
