The former Blue Peter presenter took to social media to reveal that he was dragged into a special consultation with execs from the show.

He shared a selfie with his co-star as the duo sat on a comfy-looking sofa before they met with the show’s executive producer.

On his Instagram page, they were both dressed in casual pink jumpers as Gethin sported his obligatory BBC lanyard around his neck.

Although Michelle gave off a sarcastic smile, Gethin looked far more serious as they prepared for the performance evaluation session.

The duo were about to watch clips of themselves, and discuss how BBC Morning Live could potentially be improved.

Although, the TV personality admitted that far from feeling worried, he actually relished the chance to develop the show further.

He captioned the photo: “Watch back”. @michelle_ackerley and me sitting down with the boss to discuss what we can do better!

“Love it. Always welcome a chance to improve.”

Joking about their matching outfits, he added: “Pink is not mandatory though.”

Although it’s clear the pair went for an informal meeting, fans flooded the comments section of his Instagram post.

They told the star that they wanted the BBC magazine programme to remain exactly how it is on-screen.

One fan exclaimed: “Love it all..funny..very real…informative…don’t change!!!”

“Keep it as it is, it’s great!,” wrote a second.

As a third viewer noted: “I hope your boss realises what a wonderful team you have on Morning Live. Great by programme, relevant topics and lots of fun.”

Who hosts BBC Morning Live?

Morning Live has been a staple of BBC One's daytime schedule offering for the last four years and airs directly after BBC Breakfast each weekday at 9.30am. But who presents the show?

Meanwhile, someone else commented: “Love it! Why would they want to cull this amazing show?”

And a fifth added: “Keep doing what you do, all of you – you’re all brilliant!”

It seems that fans might be onto something, as Auntie seems to be coming out on top when it comes to the Daytime TV ratings war.

Back in March, just over a million viewers tuned into watch This Morning as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard’s made their debut.

By the same point in May the peak fell to 589,000 – with an average of 486,000 tuning in to the ITV show.

However, it was far better news for Morning Live, which had solid figures between one million to 1.4million.
