Spain holiday hotspot on ‘red alert’ for biggest Euros party outside England & Germany with 2,000 fans to flood strip

PARTY town Magaluf is on “red alert” as cops prepared for a surge of England fans for the Euros final.

Some 2,000 fans are expected to descend on the town for Sunday’s clash – with extra cops being deployed to keep a close eye on fans on the strip.

Calvia council chiefs have installed big TV screens in the town’s main square for Spain and England fans to watch the final.

Extra police officers will be stationed in Plaza Illes Pitiüses – with huge crowds expected, Majorca Daily Bulletin reports.

The council has also introduced a string of rules for pubs and clubs – such as only serving booze in plastic glasses and monitoring TV volumes.

And local Magaluf cops have been bolstered by extra officers as part of ongoing summer reinforcements for the Euros – remaining on “red alert” for any trouble.

The Euros final kicks off at 9pm local time on the island on Sunday – with fans expected to pile into pubs as early as possible in their droves.

So far there have been no major incidents in Magaluf or the rest of the island during the Euros.

Elsewhere in Majorca, a massive screen will be placed in the iconic Plaza de la Reina in Palma for fans to watch.

It comes as Spanish cops in Benidorm deploy riot police, drones and booze bans to cope with the surge of fans ahead of Sunday.

Benidorm council chiefs have put preventative measures in place for pubs and clubs showing the mammoth clash with them telling bar staff to only give England fans beer in plastic pint glasses.

The travelling Three Lions’s fans have vowed to transform the famous Costa Blanca resort into a battleground on the day of the final against the Spanish.

To counter any rowdiness, public security councillor Jesus Carrobles has said booze served in glasses will be banned from 6pm.

The ramp up in policing in Magaluf is linked to the recent tensions between tourists and locals reaching its boiling point.

Majorca has always been a Brit favourite holiday hotspot – with its scenic beaches, relaxing vibe and great nightlife.

But the idyllic Balearic island has seen violent gangs, bar brawls and anti-tourist protests stain its good name.

But an expert insists that despite the chaos, Brits are continuing to flock to the island – in higher numbers than usual.

Holidaymakers love bustling Palma and party town Magaluf – but it would be natural for visitors to feel unwanted after the recent rise of the anti-tourism movement.

A poll by Majorca Daily Bulletin revealed that 43.15 per cent of tourists are doubting whether they should book a holiday to Majorca.

Anti-tourist protests have spread across Spain in the past few weeks – with Majorca said to be bracing for more as British cops are set to be deployed to the Spanish island to help with rowdy tourists.

And although Majorca has a relatively low crime rate, the Balearics had the highest levels in Spain last year, official statistics reveal.

But still – a staggering 4,438,772 British tourists have flocked to Spain from January till April 2024 – the highest first quarter amount ever.
