The Hibees kick off our competitive 2024/25 campaign this weekend at Elgin City. Read the full match preview below!

THE LOWDOWN

David Gray’s first competitive match as Hibs Head Coach sees us travel north to play Elgin City in the Premier Sports Cup.

The match kicks off at 3pm at Borough Briggs on Saturday 13 July, 2024.

The Hibees come into the new season off the back of a positive pre-season camp in Holland. During our week in the Netherlands, David Gray’s side were put through their paces on the training field whilst beating Greek champions PAOK (1-0) and MSV Duisburg (1-0).

Before that, we kicked off the season with a 5-0 victory over Edinburgh City at Meadowbank.

TEAM NEWS

David Gray will provide a full team news update when he speaks to the press on Friday afternoon.

The match could see competitive debuts for Warren O’Hora, Josef Bursik and Marvin Ekpiteta who all joined the Club earlier this summer.

THE HOSTS

We have played Elgin City twice in our history, both of which came in 2019.

Florian Kamberi and Joe Newell found the back of the net in the League Cup Group Stage in July 2019.

The sides were drawn against each other six months prior in the Scottish Cup, with Kamberi opening the scoring and Daryl Horgan (x2) and Ryan Gauld also on target in a 4-0 win at Easter Road.

Joe Newell and Martin Boyle are the only remaining players from the current squad that featured the last time we played Elgin City in 2019.
