12 arrested amid crime suppression detail in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Sheriff Craig Apple reports the Albany County Sheriff's Office has arrested 12 people amid a crime suppression detail within the City of Albany. Deputies from the sheriff's office conducted dozens of traffic stops and investigations within the city seeking out drug and gun activity.

On Thursday, while conducting a narcotics investigation, deputies say Trequan Clow, 32, was found with a quantity of crack cocaine. During the investigation, deputies say they also witnessed a drug sale involving 23-year-old Demauri Marshall, who also possessed crack cocaine.

Deputies say while assisting New York State Parole, Qualon Cooks, 32, a parolee absconder, made contact with him. He allegedly fled on food and after a short foot chase, he was found to possess a quantity of crack cocaine and oxycodone pills. He was taken into custody.

Clow Charges:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Marshall Charges:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Cooks Charges:

  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

All three were taken to the Albany County Correctional Facility as pre-arraign detainees. They will appear in Albany City Criminal Court on Friday. Five others were arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were released on appearance tickets.

Four people were arrested on active warrants and were turned over to the originating agencies throughout the Capital Region for various crimes.
