I’m a beauty writer and this £38 liquid blush is the best thing to drop on my desk this week
TO bring you the crème de la crème of the beauty world, it’s my job as a beauty writer to swatch, sniff and spritz all of the latest product releases.
Buckets full of new beauty products launch every month, so cutting through the noise is tough, but this blush has stopped me in my tracks.

It takes a lot for a high-end, expensive make-up product to impress me.
After all, when brilliant, budget brands like e.l.f and KIKO Milano exist, why pay more?
However, Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush, which will set you back £38, is well worth the investment and one of the best blushers I’ve tried.
On numerous occasions, I’ve made my dislike for cream and liquid blushers very plain.
Controversial as it is (it seems that just about everyone on social media disagrees with me), I’ve been loyal to my trusty powder blush for years instead.
My reasoning is simple: most liquid blush formulas are too wet, patchy, runny or sticky – but this isn’t the case with Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush.

Available in seven shades, spanning from petal pink to crimson, these new liquid blushers are encased in a tiny cylinder bottle with a precision dropper.
Whilst the bite-size packaging begs the question of how long one bottle will last, it’s a great size for popping into your handbag or taking away on holiday.
All seven shades are gorgeous, but I opted for Whim, a coral pink, and dotted it across my cheekbones, before blending with fingers.
Now, I usually hate doing this – and instead opt for blending with a brush – as it leaves my complexion looking patchy and uneven.
However, I was surprised by how effectively the drops sunk into my skin, which enabled me to build up additional layers evenly and gradually intensify the finish.

Once applied, Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush drops have a slightly powdery finish, meaning they’re free of stickiness, but still look dewy and fresh on the skin.
They’re formulated with Hourglass’s Unreal Lifting Complex serum, which hydrates the skin both instantly and throughout the day.
The brand claims that the drops stay put for up to 12 hours but whilst I didn’t notice any smudging or patchiness, their intensity had dialled down come dinner time.
However, due to their buildable, blendable finish, touching up your blush look wouldn’t prove tricky.
All in all, these miniature blush drops score points for their blendable, lightweight texture that instantly provides a flattering flush without the need for a brush.
They’ve certainly earned their place in my make-up bag, and I think they’re worthy of yours, too.
