Taxi licenses suspended for Larnaca Airport rule violations

Taxi licenses suspended for Larnaca Airport rule violations

By Robert Morgan

Some 22 city and long-distance taxi licenses were suspended from entering Larnaca airport by the Licensing Authority between June 20 and July 10 for violations of pickup/drop-off rules, with warnings of permanent suspensions for repeat offenders.

In an announcement today, the authority said license suspensions for entry to Larnaca airport – currently for only a one-week period – would increase for repeat violators in seven-day increments to a limit of 30 days, at which point they would become permanent.

The temporary license suspensions and threat of permanent suspension are due to frequent violation of the terms and conditions for accessing Larnaca’s airport by drivers and/or road use license holders of urban and long-distance taxis.

“With the start of implementation of the measure, an improvement was observed in the arrivals reception area of the airport,” the announcement concluded.
