Full list of Carpetright stores at risk of closure as company faces collapse
Carpetright is set to collapse into administration putting all 272 of its stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland at risk of closure.
One of Britain’s biggest flooring retailers confirmed today it had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators from PricewaterhouseCoopers.
If the company- founded by Lord Philip Harris of Peckham in 1988 – was to go under, it could result in at least 1,850 job losses and even as many as 3,000.
Going into administration will give Carpetright 10 days of protection while continuing the hunt for a buyer after the business was put up for sale earlier this week.
The cost of living crisis is thought to be the main contributing factor to the slump of Carpetright, which has seen sales severely impacted, as well as the knock-on effect of the Covid pandemic.
A cyber attack in April and strong competition from rivals is also blamed for a drop in trade.
