Stacey Dooley’s West End play forced to slash prices by 50% to tempt fans in – with tickets as low as £15
A WEST End play starring Stacey Dooley has been forced to slash its ticket prices and has become the latest in a long-line of plays to offer up cheap seats.
Seats to see the latest run of the acclaimed play 2.22: A Ghost Story are currently being off-loaded for as little as £15.
A popular seat-filling site has dashed prices by more than 50% this summer in a bid to draw even more fans in.
The play currently stars TV personality Stacey in the starring role as Jenny – a role which has become famed for having an eclectic mix of stars taking it on, many with little-to-no acting expereince.
Stacey is appearing in the run alongside The Inbetweeners funnyman James Buckley at the Gielgud Theatre in London.
It’s current run moved to the Gielgud Theatre as a replacement for Sheridan Smith‘s flop play Opening Night.
Whilst tickets to see 2.22 were once listed at a whopping £136, nearly all seats in the venue are now down to 50% less with many retailing for just £65.
Moreover, seats at the very top of the venue can currently be acquired for as cheap as £15.
These new prices are understood to be available for every run, bar Saturday matinee performances, from now until the very beginning of August.
At present, the play is currently scheduled to close just days later on August 4.
Joe McFadden and Donna Air are also currently appearing in the hit West End play.
The show’s creator Danny Robins recently opened up to The Sun about the play and it’s central character of Jenny and the reasoning behind the decisions to cast a wide variety of stars.
Singers Lily Allen and Cheryl have both played Jenny as well as TV host Laura Whitmore.
Danny said: “I was introduced to Cheryl and I just remember thinking she’d be great in the play and then we were like ‘Cheryl, do you want to come and watch the play and see if you like it?’
“Then she ended up doing it, which was amazing and brilliant and a lot of that’s been quite fortuitous.
Danny also hit back at social media critics who have blasted the play for stunt casting and insisted that such claims are “not true”.

He added: “I think stunt casting is, is when you cast someone just desperately to sell seats who isn’t any good.
“We are casting people who are exciting and brilliant on stage.”
Danny went on to liken each incarnation of Jenny as “Doctor Who regenerating” and insisted that there was room on the bill for an out of work politician or ex-footballer.
He laughed: “We’ve taken TV presenters, we’ve taken pop stars – who knows, would we take a footballer?
“Would we take a politician?
“There might be some politicians out of work looking for a new job after the election, and it’d be intriguing to.”
