Trump's George Clooney fixation enters Day 3

While actor George Clooney may have expected backlash from his New York Times editorial asking President Joe Biden to drop out of the race, he likely didn't count on Donald Trump's eagerness to try to welcome him into the Republican Party.

Clooney, a longtime liberal and Democratic donor, wrote three days ago that he was no longer on board with Biden as the 2024 Democratic standard bearer, leading Trump to rush to email supporters that Clooney might join them.

Trump has struggled to find popular Hollywood icons who would be a draw to an event. He's stuck with folks like Scott Baio, Jon Voight and Kid Rock.

"Does that mean he's endorsing me!?" Trump's fundraising email exclaimed. "Even though he's a proud member of the Hate-America Hollywood Elite, I will gladly accept his endorsement..."

Then the email says Trump "honestly" doesn't care what Clooney thinks. But the email says that isn't true if Clooney endorses him.

Huffington Post politics reporter Jennifer Bendery commented, "Trump's latest weird fundraising email reads like a desperate plea to date George Clooney fresh out of a breakup."

The move comes just two days after Trump attacked Clooney saying he "should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!"
