Chrissy Teigen Compared Parenting to ‘Yachting’ & It’s the Best Thing on the Internet
If you thought taking care of kids would be easy, it’s time for a reality check. Keeping everyone alive and fed and happy is a feat, and Chrissy Teigen absolutely nailed it in her latest video. She compared parenting to “yachting,” and parents everywhere are coming together to praise this hilarious comparison.
As a parody to Bravo TV’s Below Deck, the Cravings author dressed in a boat captain uniform to make a spoof video on Instagram about how challenging it is to serve her special guests. “I am in my eight year of yachting,” she begins, referring to the fact that she’s been parenting with husband John Legend for eight years (they share kids Luna, 8, Miles, 6, Esti, 18 months, and Wren, 1).
“I love my job…it’s the clients that are really tough,” she continues her reality show-like confessional with a straight face, before the camera cuts to a clip of Miles sitting in the backyard screaming his head off and Luna falling to the floor crying. “We need toys!” she screams, as Teigen shakes her head to the side, wearing her cute uniform. This may be scripted, but it’s actually so real.
“They can be very demanding,” she continues. Later she pretends to speak into a microphone, letting someone know, “We’re out of toys. The toys should always be out.” Later, she reads the “preferences” of her first guest of charter season, which includes, “Asian food, candy, milkshakes, Tate Mcrae, pizza from Papa John’s, and more candy and toys.”
Baby Esti even makes an appearance in the cute clip, as Chrissy serves her food in the highchair and says, “Hope everything is to your liking!” Esti responds by babbling on about something incoherently, while Teigen tries to understand exactly what she wants. “Primary wants ‘et’?” she tells the microphone, trying to guess what her guest of honor is requesting. Been there, girl!
From taking a break to cry in the laundry room to making a jelly sandwich that her son hated — “he was irate!” — we truly never realized how much running a yacht is just like running a household. She nailed this one!
“YACHTING IS MY PASSION,” she captioned the hilarious video, prompting a response from Legend. “When did this happen? ????????????????????” he quipped. She replied, “yesterday!! see I’m always WORKING baby.”
Bravo TV host Andy Cohen replied, “Bravo! Sending contracts.” Yes, please! We would watch this series on repeat.
Other celebrities were loving it too. Kaley Cuoco wrote, “This is genius.” Rumer Willis commented, “Obsessed with you.” “crying ????????????????,” Camila Cabello wrote. Brooklyn Decker said, “This is my favorite.”
Reality star matriarch Kris Jenner even took notice. “God I love this… please tell me I can book a Charter ????,” she joked. Someone else wrote what we’re all thinking: “All we want to know is when does episode 2 drop?” Same!
The Chrissy & Dave Dine Out star recently took her kids on an actual family vacay, and she shared the family of 6’s latest obsession. “Well on our way to completing every Lego set ever,” she captioned a set of photos from Mexico, where Teigen, Legend, and the kids were building LEGO sets or smiling next to completed models.
