King Charles III has decided to add to his already luxurious real estate portfolio by taking a plunge into the New York City market. He is now officially an owner of a $6.63 million, three-bedroom condo on what is dubbed Billionaires’ Row in Manhattan.

The 11th-floor unit also includes 3,601 square feet, 4.5 bathrooms, and majestic views of the city skyline. They tried to keep the deal as quiet as possible, listing the buyer as “His Majesty the King in Right of Canada,” per The Real Deal, and the deed was signed by the senior trade commissioner and director of trade and investment at the Consulate General of Canada in New York, Robert McCubbing. But any loyal royal family fan knows that Charles is considered the sovereign ruler of Canada, a British Commonwealth country, after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Queen Camilla and King Charles III depart from the Easter Mattins Service at Windsor Castle on March 31, 2024 in Windsor, England.

It was an all-cash deal and at a significant discount from the initial listing price, which was a hefty $10.8 million in February 2022. The big question now is who will live in the residence? It’s pretty obvious that King Charles loves country living with its gardens and walking paths. It doesn’t seem like it would be a property for Prince William and Kate Middleton since they have a lot going on with their young family and her health battle.

That brings us to Queen Camilla’s family — could the purchase be for one of her children? Camilla’s youngest daughter Laura Lopes is married to CEO Harry Lopes, and they share three children, Eliza, 16, and twin boys, Gus and Louis, 15. The apartment might be tight for a family of five, especially with three teens. So, perhaps it is a place for Camilla’s oldest child, Tom Parker Bowles, who is a food writer, and author of the upcoming cookbook, Cooking and the Crown: Royal Recipes from Queen Victoria to King Charles III (a very nepo baby book). A foodie and the Manhattan food scene might be the perfect fit for Tom.

As of May 2024, King Charles’ real estate portfolio was worth $25 billion, so that number will go up a few notches with the New York City condo added. According to Forbes, Charles is the proud owner of seven palaces, 10 castles, 12 homes, 56 holiday cottages, and 14 ancient ruins — and now one apartment in the Big Apple.
