IOTA, La. (KLFY) – Speed and agility is what made his name. Now former Saints running back Buford Jordan is looking to pass along his knowledge to the next generation.

The first-round pick of the 1984 draft hosted his 2nd annual youth camp on Friday morning in Iota, and it's all driven by his passion for the kids.

"Man I just love it. You can see we have a little 5-year-old and he's going through; you can see just with that time getting better. Anytime you can get some kids out to just have fun and play, that's the thing that I feel help fills my heart. That's what this is all for," says Jordan.

The camp was free of charge for boys and girls ages 5-18 and was not specific just to the game of football. Jordan looks to not only improve individual athletic performance but also to help instill a strong work ethic into the next wave of athletes.

When speaking on fundamental values he hopes the kids take from the camp Jordan said, "You get better if you work hard, and that's what we're doing. We just out doing some things, learning some new things. If you keep working at it, you'll get better, and that's what it is."

Jordan says he's thankful to have an opportunity to help the kids improve their skills during the summertime break from recreational sports. "We just want to get young people out and active and give them things to do when they're not with coach. That's all this is, I'm not trying to replace a coach. We're just showing some things the kids could do to help make them better for the coaches. "  The children would receive a complimentary lunch, camp t-shirts, an autograph, and a picture with Buford Jordan. Bufford Jordan's Speed & Agility Camp concludes on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
