Galaxy fined $100,000 by MLS for ‘serious misconduct by supporters groups’

Supporter group privileges are suspended immediately until the conclusion of a review by the league and the team following the use of flares during the July 4 game at the Rose Bowl.

The Galaxy was fined $100,000 by Major League Soccer for what the league called “serious misconduct by Galaxy fan supporter groups” during the July 4 match against rival LAFC at the Rose Bowl.

MLS says the Galaxy will be “subject to League oversight” related to security and supporter management processes.

In addition, the Galaxy have agreed to conduct a full investigation of the incident with the violators subjected to “further penalties, indefinite bans and all appropriate legal action.”

As a result, supporter privileges for all Galaxy supporter groups, home and away, are indefinitely suspended pending the completion of the review by the league and the team.

In the July 7 home game against Minnesota United, Galaxy supporter groups were under a one-game ban issued by the Galaxy, with no drums allowed to be brought into Dignity Health Sports Park.

Last season, LAFC’s “3252” supporter group was issued a $100,000 fine for the use of flares during a playoff game.
