The offense, as previously mentioned, was on fire tonight, beginning with three home runs in a four at-bat span during the bottom of the second inning. Mark Vientos, Jose Iglesias and Harrison Bader each tallied solo home runs, putting the Mets ahead 3-2 after Michael Toglia went deep for Colorado in the front half of the frame. Vientos later doubled in a run in the third while Bader and Iglesias hit their second homers in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively.

Sean Manaea was outstanding on the mound, pitching seven strong innings with 107 pitches while allowing three runs on five hits and striking out nine. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was ejected in the seventh inning after arguing a third strike call against Iglesias.

The Mets’ bullpen struggled as Jake Diekman gave up two runs, including a homer to Charlie Blackmon, in the eighth before being replaced. Phil Maton then gave up a two-run shot to Brenton Doyle but managed to escape the inning, keeping the Mets on top at 7-6.

Edwin Díaz came on in the ninth and walked both Sam Hilliard and Blackmon after retiring the first two batters of the inning. He redeemed himself by punching out Ezequiel Tovar to seal the Mets’ fourth-straight win and notch his tenth save of the year.
