California fast food owners cut hours of workers making $20 per hour

LOS ANGELES, California: Lawrence Cheng, whose family owns seven Wendy's locations south of Los Angeles, has had to adjust operations due to a new California law that raised the hourly wage for fast food workers from $16 to $20 as of April 1.

Cheng now schedules fewer employees per shift to cope with the increased labour costs and works extra hours himself.
