Teen arrested for beach thefts
An 18-year-old boy was remanded for two days by Larnaca District Court on Saturday for stealing mobile phones on the beach, police said.
The teen was stopped for a check by officers at around 9am on Friday after he was found acting suspiciously on the beach.
Police searched his bag and found three mobile phones, a credit card, car and house keys, and ear pods.
When questioned, the teen did not give sufficient answers about the items, and he was taken to the police station for further investigation of the matter.
While he was at the station, a tourist came in to report the burglary of his bag, which he recognised as the one the 18-year-old was holding.
The teen was arrested and on Saturday he was taken to court, where he was issued a two-day remand.
