Good morning, Mets fans!

On Friday, the Mets set a season high in home runs with five in their 7-6 victory over the Rockies. Mark Vientos got the party started in the second inning before Jose Iglesias and Harrison Bader hit solo shots to give the Mets three home runs in a four-batter span. Iglesias and Bader then homered later in the game to give each of them two for the game, giving the Mets five in total. The Mets have now won four consecutive games and are tied for the second Wild Card spot in the National League.

Per Andy Martino of SNY, the Yankees are calling up infield prospect Jorbit Vivas. In 37 games in Triple-A, Vivas had an .828 OPS but was swinging the bat much better as of late. In a corresponding move, the Yankees are placing J.D. Davis on the injured list.

The Phillies announced that they released Whit Merrifield and recalled Weston Wilson from Triple-A. Merrifield is a three-time All-Star, including last year with the Blue Jays despite just a .700 OPS, but he never found a rhythm after signing a one-year, $8 million deal with the Phillies this offseason. In 53 games, he was batting .199 with a .572 OPS.

Eno Sarris and Rustin Dodd of The Athletic wrote about former Met Seth Lugo, and how he has finally become the starter he always thought he could be. This year, Lugo is 11-3 with a 2.21 ERA while throwing the third-most innings of any pitcher in baseball.
