Barbora Krejcikova captured the Wimbledon women’s title after outlasting Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in Saturday’s final.

It’s the second career Grand Slam singles title for Krejcikova, who won the French Open in 2021. She also owns seven Grand Slam titles in women’s doubles, including two at Wimbledon.

The seventh-seeded Paolini was playing for the trophy at a second consecutive Grand Slam tournament after losing to Iga Swiatek in the final at Roland Garros last month. She is the first woman to make it that far on the French Open’s clay and Wimbledon’s grass in the same season since Serena Williams in 2016.

Krejcikova, seeded 31st, is the eighth woman to win Wimbledon in the last eight editions of the tournament. Marketa Vondrousova, who was last year’s champion, was eliminated in the first round last week.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will face in the men’s final Sunday.
