Rebel Wilson Fires Back After 'The Deb' Producers File Defamation Lawsuit Against Her
Rebel Wilson is hitting back.
Earlier this week, the producers of the 44-year-old star’s upcoming directorial debut The Deb filed a defamation lawsuit against her after she accused them of with misconduct and embezzlement.
Rebel also accused them of blocking the movie from premiering at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
In their lawsuit, the producers continued to deny the accusations and “claimed that Wilson has attempted to hold the film hostage over credits for screenwriting and musical recordings,” according to Variety.
The suit is alleging Rebel of unprofessional conduct, “including claims she disappeared from set for extended periods of time and threatened financiers with ‘exposing’ them to her roughly 11 million Instagram followers.”
On Friday (July 13), Rebel took to social media to slam the producers over the lawsuit.

She then took to her Story to share more behind-the-scenes photos and videos with her cast and crew as she continued to slam the producers.
“This is from The Deb‘s brilliant cinematographer Ross Emery,” Rebel wrote along with a video of herself dancing with the cast and crew. “This is what happened immediately after we finished our last shot of the film with the entire cast and crew.”
In follow-up Stories, Rebel wrote, “But now these f–kwit ‘producers are trying to file a defamation case claiming all sorts of rubbish! The cast & crew are with me and want this movie to premiere at Toronto!”
“They’ve been called out for their bad behaviour and now they file a defamation claim. Ummm I’m pretty sure I have 200 witnesses to prove what I’m saying is right!” Rebel continued. “So good luck f–kwit ‘producers’ trying to prove anything other than I’m a professional who did an amazing job as a first time female director!”
She added, “Good luck! Love to my brilliant cast & crew who know the truth. And it’s not defamation if it’s the truth!”
If you missed it, Rebel recently shared surprising news about her relationship with fiancée Ramona Agruma.
