Calciomercato reporter Daniele Longo has insisted that AC Milan still have a lot of work to do in order to strike a deal with Tottenham for Emerson Royal.

AC Milan are keen on Tottenham’s Emerson Royal

It is an open secret that AC Milan and Tottenham are locked in negotiations over a deal for Emerson, with various Italian outlets suggesting that the two sides are nearing an agreement.

This includes an update from Corriere Dello Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb) earlier this week, which claimed that Rossoneri were readying a bid of around €15m after seeing their opening offer of €12m turned down by Spurs.

The report added that negotiations are expected to accelerate following the second bid, with a deal potentially set to be agreed in a matter of days.

Meanwhile, Emerson himself has expressed his transfer intention, publicly admitting to Globo a few days ago that he wants regular game time and is keen on completing a switch to the San Siro.

A transfer agreement has not been reached as of yet

However, Longo believes that the transfer is far from a done deal, suggesting that other clubs could enter the picture over the coming days.

The journalist told Radio Rossonera: “At the moment Emerson Royal is away from Milan, the gap between supply and demand is high. When you go to negotiate with a club like Tottenham either you satisfy them, or you don’t take the player. Spurs don’t need to sell him.

“Furthermore, there is also an offer from Al-Nassr which will be formalised later, we will see if the player is tempted by this Arab siren.

“It seems to me that this is also the hope of some Milan fans, among the names associated with the Rossoneri, he is the one that arouses the least interest. Emerson is Moncada’s choice.”

I doubt Emerson would be too keen on making a switch to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.

It seems like the Rossoneri are trying to use the fact that the player has his heart set on a move to San Siro to try and push through a bargain deal.
