‘I’m Not Done Yet’, Spain Striker Warns England Skipper Harry Kane Ahead Of Euro 2024 Final

Harry Kane has never won a major trophy with country or club. Meanwhile, Dani Olmo's all goals in Euro 2024 were decisive.

New Delhi: Star Spain striker Dani Olmo has issued a warning to his England counterpart Harry Kane ahead of the Euro 2024 final in Berlin on Sunday. England have made history by reaching back-to-back European Championships for the first time. Both teams triumphed in their respective semifinal matches. Spain staged a remarkable comeback after France’s Randal Kolo Muani opened the scoring, with stunning goals from Lamine Yamal and Olmo securing their spot in their first Euro final in 12 years. On the other hand, the Three Lions mounted a comeback against the Netherlands, overcoming Xavi Simons’ goal with strikes from skipper Kane and substitute Ollie Watkins.

Olmo is having a great tournament as the striker with three goals in six games. Notably, all his goals proved to be decisive. Incidentally, Olmo and Kane are the joint top goal-scorers in the tournament with three hits each. It’s a well-known fact that Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich, has never won a major trophy with club or country.

According to some pundits, Kane is considered “cursed” when it comes to winning trophies. Olmo aimed to extend that streak, having scored a hat-trick for Leipzig in the Super Cup final to beat Bayern Munich last season. “I kept Harry Kane’s trophy going in Germany, and I’m not done yet,” Olmo was quoted as saying to Centre Goals.

The final clash will be a meeting of two distinct footballing ideologies. Gareth Southgate’s England adopted a very defensive approach, focusing on maintaining possession and taking few shots. In contrast, Luis de la Fuente’s Spain played typical Spanish football, characterized by beautiful passes and relentless attacks on the net. Both ideologies have proven successful for their teams, but England’s players have faced criticism for their pragmatic approach on the pitch.

England fans won’t be pleased after hearing Olmo’s words. They are yearning to end a 58-year major trophy drought. Southgate’s team reached the Euro 2020 final three years ago but lost to Italy on penalties.
