6 Supervillains We’d Love To See In ‘The Batman Part II’
Who should the caped crusader fight in the next The Batman movie? Here's a list of our favorite supervillains who would kill the role.
More often than not, the strength of a truly memorable superhero film rests on the characteristics of its main villains. Terrorizing their heroic counterpart with their mischievous deeds and nefarious plans for world domination, a unique supervillain has a way of leaving a lasting impression on audiences across the globe, be it an antagonist as chaotic as The Dark Knight’s Joker or larger-than-life as The Avengers’ Thanos.
As we look ahead to the scheduled release of The Batman – Part II in late 2026, audiences can only wonder which comic book foe will pop up in the Caped Crusader’s latest Batman cinematic adaptation. From sinister secret societies to sharpshooting assassins, here are several villains we’d love to see debut in the Robert Pattinson-led Batman universe at some point in the near future.
Scarecrow
A fan-favorite supervillain who has been haunting Gotham City since his 1941 comic book debut, few villains have as magnetic an aura as the fear-obsessed mad scientist, Dr. Jonathan Crane – better known under his criminal moniker, the Scarecrow.
A deranged chemist able to literally manifest his victims’ worst fears through terrifyingly immersive hallucinations, audiences already know that Scarecrow can be portrayed as a more realistic villain, as seen through Cillian Murphy’s iteration of Crane in The Dark Knight trilogy. As one of the darkest supervillains the World’s Greatest Detective has ever come up against, Scarecrow would make an incredibly welcome addition to the bleak and gritty world of The Batman, giving this underappreciated DC baddy the spotlight he rightfully deserves.
Two-Face
Among the more fascinating personalities in Batman’s comic book history, Harvey Dent has the added benefit of fulfilling two separate roles within the DC Universe. Initially the best friend and steadfast ally to Bruce Wayne, Batman, and James Gordon, Harvey’s harrowing transformation into the unhinged Two-Face makes him one of the most compelling characters in Batman comics.
Whether portrayed as the symbol of hope and justice in Gotham City or as a fallen hero torn apart by his warring temperaments, Dent could make for an extraordinary dramatic foil to Pattinson’s Caped Crusader in The Batman – Part II.
The Court of Owls
A relatively new addition to the DC Universe, the Court of Owls doesn’t exactly command the same iconic reputation as The Joker or Two-Face. However, this twisted secret society has since become a cult favorite among contemporary readers of Batman comics. Composed of Gotham City’s wealthiest and most influential citizens, the Court’s shadowy rule over Gotham could provide an interesting case for Pattinson’s Batman to unravel in the next film, going hand in hand with the Riddler’s paranoid ramblings from the initial entry in the series.
Hugo Strange
While most Batman villains have expressed some degree of interest in the hero’s secret identity, few characters are as downright obsessed with it as Hugo Strange. A brainy psychologist, chemist, and biologist, Strange constantly manages to find a way to manipulate those around him to better suit his end goals (I.E., unmasking Batman). Whether worming his way into a position of power and authority or mentally breaking down some of Gotham City’s most notorious criminals, Strange could make for a more than formidable intellectual opponent for the Dark Knight in The Batman – Part II.
Black Mask
With John Turturro’s Carmine Falcone meeting his end in the second act of The Batman, it’s safe to assume that Gotham City’s criminal underworld will be in some degree of disarray in The Batman – Part II. Filling the void left behind by Falcone’s demise, the upcoming film could very well introduce audiences to the up-and-coming gangster, Roman Sionis (AKA Black Mask). As with his original comic book iteration, Sionis’ darker portrayal as a twisted, amoral, psychopathic gangster perfectly suits the darker climate of The Batman universe, making him a dangerous threat to Batman, Catwoman, James Gordon, and his professional rival, Oswald Cobblepot, among others.
Deadshot
In more recent years, Deadshot has gained renewed significant exposure thanks to his starring roles in movies like Suicide Squad or video games like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As a result, the chances that Floyd Lawton might appear in a central role in The Batman – Part II has never been higher. A skilled mercenary known for his deadly marksmanship and his reputation for never missing a target, Deadshot would make for a wonderful antagonist for Pattinson’s Batman, testing the hero from both a physical and mental standpoint.
