Today’s weather: Hot with the odd shower in the mountains

Sunday’s weather is expected to be mainly hot and sunny, tempered by the possible occasional rain shower or storm in the mountains.

Temperatures will rise to a scorching 39 degrees Celsius inland, 34 degrees Celsius on the southeast and east coasts, 37 degrees Celsius on the north coast, 33 degrees Celsius on the rest of the coasts, and 30 degrees Celsius in the mountains.

Overnight, skies will be clear in most parts, though there will be increased cloud cover over the southeast corner of the island. There also may be fog during the early hours of Monday morning.

Temperatures will drop to 25 degrees Celsius inland and on the north coast, 26 degrees Celsius on the rest of the coasts, and 20 degrees Celsius in the mountains.

Hot weather with possible isolated storms in the mountains and inland will persist through Monday, with potentially increased cloud cover through Tuesday afternoon, and then clearer skies on Wednesday.

Temperatures will rise again on Monday, before remaining stable as the week progresses.
