At least 2 killed in assassination attempt on former president Trump

American media reported that following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, at least two individuals, the assailant and one spectator, were killed.

CNN’s investigative report detailed that shots were fired towards Donald Trump, resulting in a superficial gunshot wound to his ear, though he was not aware of the threat at the time.

Donald Trump was targeted during a campaign speech Saturday afternoon among his supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, where state security forces immediately evacuated him.

In his initial response after the attack, he posted on social media: “I took a bullet. A bullet passed through my right ear. After being wounded, I bled a lot and realized what had happened. It’s unbelievable that such a thing could happen in our country, and much is still unknown about the shooter.”

The identity of the shooter has not been fully confirmed, but CNN, citing its sources, reported that the gunman was killed at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, The Washington Post reported, citing a statement from the Secret Service, that “an attacker from an elevated position outside the supporters’ gathering for Trump fired multiple shots at him, and the service agents killed the attacker.”

Richard Goldinger, of Butler city officials where the attack occurred, told the media, “It’s unclear whether the shooter committed suicide or was shot by someone else.”

Initial speculation about the identity of the attacker, which remains unconfirmed, suggests that “Mark Violet,” a member of the far-left extremist organization known as “Antifa,” carried out the attack.

Meanwhile, this incident has sparked significant concerns about security and political tensions in the United States, underscoring the volatile climate surrounding public figures and their safety, irrespective of political affiliation.
