Tim Cook admits Apple headset users ‘tear up’ over ’emotional’ spatial pics and videos that bring your memories to life
DONNING Apple’s Vision Pro headset might be so moving that you “tear up”.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Apple chief Tim Cook revealed how one of the headset’s best features proves surprisingly emotional.

The headset (read our Apple Vision Pro review) is a “spatial computer” that lets you see floating apps and screens overlaid on (or replacing) the real world around you.
This £3,499 / $3,499 Minority Report style gadget is available in the United Kingdom and United States, and serves up giant cinema screens, immersive sports, and a virtual office if you want to get some work done.
But it’s also a camera that can capture 3D “spatial videos and images” that feel like travelling back in time – letting you step into specific memories.
“It’s an emotional experience to take a demo,” Tim told The Sun.
“So I encourage everybody to go to their local Apple retail store and get a demo.
“It’s interesting to watch people, the reaction that they have.
“You know many of them tear up, because when you begin to experience your photographs in the Vision Pro, it’s almost like you’re there again.
“You can imagine your family photographs as big as life.

“And you’re there, you’re celebrating a birthday party or you’re celebrating some huge event in your family’s history. It’s amazing.”
There are two ways to capture your own Spatial Videos.
One option is to simply use the built-in cameras on the headset.
But you can also snap them using the Apple camera app on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
These can be viewed in gloriously real 3D inside the Apple Vision Pro headset, letting you revisit a specific moment that you’ve captured.
That’s not all: the feature is about to get a big upgrade later this year.
“With our next operating system release – visionOS 2 – we’ll be allowing you to go back to your older photos – your 2D photos – and convert them to 3D,” Tim explained during his exclusive conversation with The Sun.
“And when you begin to do this, and you’re using some of your old photos of your family and friends and your vacations, it feels like you have returned to that moment in time.”

The high price of the headset means that not everyone will be able to afford it.
But Tim told us that anyone who wants a demo of the headset can sign up for one at the Apple Store – at no cost.
These free Apple Vision Pro demos will let you try out the headset, even if you’re not convinced that you want to buy one.
And as part of that, you’ll be able to see how the Spatial Photos and Spatial Videos work.
“Even when you don’t know the people, it’s moving,” Tim told us.
“But when you do it with your own photos, it’s incredibly moving.
“It’s the immersive nature of it: when you’re watching movies or TV shows or your photos or somebody else’s photos, it’s just incredible.”
