Troy Parrott made friends for life at Spurs

After joining Spurs in 2017 and developing through the club’s academy, Parrott showed plenty of promise but only made four first-team appearances for the Lilywhites, with the majority of his time spent out on loan.

Taking to social media after his move to the Netherlands was made official, Parrott tweeted: “After an amazing seven years full of memories and experiences, it’s time for me to take the next step in my career.

“I wanted to express my gratitude to the incredible players and staff members I have worked with. I’ve made friends for life.

“Finally, a massive thank you to the fans who have and continue to support me through my journey – Spurs will always be in my heart.”

Tottenham released a statement confirming Parrott’s departure and wishing the Irishman the best for the future.

Parrott happy with his return to Holland

After enjoying a successful loan spell with Excelsior Rotterdam last season, scoring 17 goals across the campaign, Parrott had attracted plenty of interest from other Eredivisie sides this summer.

Prior to sealing his move to AZ Alkmaar, Parrott had spoken candidly about how he felt the playing style over in Holland suits his game (Balls.ie).

Since the switch was confirmed, Parrott has told Voetbal International: “Before I signed here, I heard a lot of good stories about AZ… I think AZ is the perfect club for me to take the next steps in my development.

“I will take with me the useful experience of last year. It helps me that I already played in the Netherlands last season and am therefore used to the competition and life here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m happy for Parrott that he’s got this move and that he seems so pleased with the switch. He’s going to smash it with Alkmaar next season, I’m sure.
