Emerson Royal reveals future club he wants to play for – aside from AC Milan

While speculation continues to mount suggesting Emerson Royal will join AC Milan this summer, the Brazilian has been talking about his footballing aspirations for further down the line.

Emerson Royal wants to continue his career in Europe

With his time at Tottenham likely to come to an end this summer, Royal has been speaking rather candidly with EPTV reporter Rodrigo Castro (via Rede Globo), and he explained how in the future he plans to head back to Brazil and play for his boyhood club, Santos.

He said: “Santos is my childhood team. My brother and father are also Santos fans. It’s a dream to play for Santos in the future. Not right now. I want to have a longer career in Europe, but I have debts in Brazil.

“I have one with [the coach] Eduardo Baptista. One day I’ll play for whatever team he’s in, for at least a year. He promoted me to the first team at Ponte, then he went to Palmeiras, and I went back to the Ponte youth team with Gilson Kleina.

“Then [Eduardo] went back to Ponte and put me back in the first team. That’s when I was sold to Atlético-MG.”

Is Emerson Royal moving to Milan?

For now, it seems the full-back could be heading to Italy. At least, that what he would like to happen, as a report from TBR Football reveals the 25-year-old has made it very clear that he wants the transfer to AC Milan to go through this summer.

Apparently, Spurs want £20m for Royal, while AC Milan have only offered around £15m, which has been rejected.

I think most players like the idea of returning to their boyhood club when their career is slowing down, and it’s always good to see that happen.

Royal has a good chunk of his career ahead of him, though, and hopefully, he gets that move to Milan sooner rather than later.
