Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte Are On Point at Wimbledon in Two of 2024’s Biggest Shoe Trends

Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte were on point at the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday in two of 2024’s “it” shoes.

The appearance marked the Princess of Wales’ second outing since she revealed her cancer diagnosis in March. The crowd gave Middleton a standing ovation as she and her daughter took their front-row seats at the Royal Box to take in the Centre Court match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. (Pippa Middleton also joined her sister and niece for the occasion.)

The Princess of Wales is an avid tennis fan and a royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Over the years, she has become known for her bright ensembles at Wimbledon. This time, she scored in a bright purple Saifyaa dress and nude slingbacks. The footwear style, which has seen a major resurgence in 2024, has been embraced by Middleton in the past — including at the 2023 Wimbledon championship — though she more often gravitates to a classic pump.

Charlotte, meanwhile, wore a polka-dot dress — a print that her mother has often chosen for Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and other summery occasions.. Charlotte paired the frock with white ballet flats, an elegant style she has been seen in again and again. Like the slingback, the ballet flat has been of this year’s defining trends, both on the runway and the street.

Last May, for King Charles’ coronation service, Princess Charlotte slipped on a pair of ballet flats in white, coordinating with her monochromatic Alexander McQueen ensemble. In 2022, she celebrated Christmas in Sandringham in a striking red coat and black ballet flats.
