Weather Alert Day: Strong storms, hot and muggy weather continues next few days

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 7 P.M.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for central and western Ohio.

Partly sunny skies and very sticky conditions will fuel a line of showers and locally strong to severe storms rolling through central Ohio late this afternoon, and across the southern counties early this evening, associated with an upper-level ripple disturbance.

Any strong storm will be capable of producing strong to damaging wind gusts and hail, along with downpours and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Be prepared to take shelter if a storm approaches, and keep you Storm Team 4 Weather App at hand.

Some cloudiness will linger overnight. A second weakening batch of showers and a few rumbles could arrive toward morning from the northwest. Morning readings will be in the low 70s.

Temperatures will reach the mid-90s on Monday and Tuesday on the northern edge of a heat dome. A few scattered storms are possible, but the greater chance will come Tuesday evening ahead of a cold front that will end the heat wave.

Showers and storms will end around midday on Wednesday, as the front pushes eastward. Cooler and less humid conditions are expected the second half of the week, with highs in the low 80s.
