And the BBC decided to play a mashup song from YouTube remixer Dave Wol ahead of tonight’s final.

The clip saw Shearer’s comments turned into a dance song as clips of the BBC’s Euros coverage play in the background.

And fans were loving what they heard.

One commented: “Pressure is for Tyres, song of the summer.”

Another added: “Officially starting the ‘get “Pressure Is For Tyres (MOtD Remix)” to number #1 next Sunday’ campaign.”

A third suggested: “Pressure is for tyres needs to be competing with the Gillette advert for UK Number One for the next six months. The pair of them on repeat if England win tonight.”

“England have the better songs. Three Lions, Hey Jude, Vindaloo, Pressure Is For Tyres,” a fourth ventured.

Earlier in coverage, Gary Lineker joked a case of “child cruelty” might be England’s best hope of stopping wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

Much has been made on how to stop the in-form right winger – and Rio Ferdinand joked good old-fashioned rough-housing needs to be in play.

He said: “You have make sure you get tight to him.

“If you let him face the game, in these areas what you have to do is you need two of you sometimes.

“Make him face his own goal, get right up tight against him. Be aggressive, he’s a young kid physically not there yet so make him face the other way, don’t give him space to run at you.

“Get right up against him, be aggressive, make him work and think about the other side. Or, smash him! Kick him out the game! Simple as that.”

Micah Richards laughed: “That’s a bit over the top, isn’t it?”

And Gary Lineker joked: “Child cruelty!”
