Adams, Sharpton address NYC after former President Trump assassination attempt
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A day after an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania that left former President Donald Trump bloody, New York City's Mayor Eric Adams and Rev. Al Sharpton addressed the city.
The NYPD increased security at a number of potential hot spots in New York City, officials said. Videos posted to social media show people gathering outside Trump Tower in New York City and a police presence.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD will be increasing its presence across the city, including at Trump Tower, 40 Wall Street, Foley Square, & City Hall,” Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy said Saturday evening.
Mayor Eric Adams on Saturday responded to the shooting.
“No one should be the victim of gun violence,” Adams said. “Today, in Pennsylvania, we witnessed once again the danger of guns in the hands of violent extremists. We must do better for all Americans.”
