The last game before the All-Star Break

After looking like they were going to finally put something together offensively to start this road trip, the offense went right back to its sluggish ways last night, meaning the best the Mariners can hope for here is a split series against one of the worst teams in baseball. The Mariners will depend on Logan Gilbert to send them into the All-Star Break on the winning side of things.

As a reminder, today is DRAFT DAY! So be sure to check in for complete draft coverage throughout the day, regardless of how this game goes.

Lineups:

Luis Guillorme was a late scratch, pushing Drury to third base and inserting Keston Hiura at second.

An off-day for Ty France with Luke Raley taking over duties at first. Clase sits again as Robles faces another righty after a strong performance last night, and Dylan Moore takes left.

Game information:

TV: ROOT Sports NW, with Aaron Goldsmith and Dan Wilson

Radio: 710 AM Seattle Sports, with Rick Rizzs and Gary Hill Jr.

Game time: 1:07 PT

Today in Mariners history:

  • 1977: The Mariners hit into the first triple play in their history, as Lee Stanton grounded into an around-the-horn triple play against the Angels.
  • 1992: Ken Griffey Jr. wins the All-Star Game MVP, going three-for-three with a home run off Greg Maddux. Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. become the first father and son to both win MVP’s and homer in the All-Star Game.
  • 2009: Manager Don Wakamatsu serves as a coach for the AL in the 80th All Star Game. Wakamatsu becomes the first Mariners manager since Lou Piniella (2000-01) to serve as a coach in the Midsummer Classic. Mariners All-Stars show well, with Ichiro recording a hit and Félix Hernández throwing a perfect inning.
  • 2022: Sam Haggerty hits Mariners first inside-the-park home run since 2007 in a 6-5 win at Texas.
