They were in London last week to promote the superhero adventure.

And they filmed an ad to be shown in cinemas and online.

Deadpool’s Ryan, 47, quips: “Our characters have spilled countless hot tubs worth of blood in the name of entertainment but don’t worry — it’s all fake.”

X-Men and Wolverine star Hugh, 55, adds: “Real blood is harder to come by and that’s why the NHS needs heroes like you to donate.

“Just one hour of your time could save up to three lives.”

Health chiefs want more under-35s and black donors to boost blood stocks.

Hospitals in England use three donations a minute treating patients and during ops.

NHS Blood and Transplant says there is a need for universal O-type blood donations as they can be given to anyone.

It needs 200,000 new donors a year to keep stocks topped up.

Donors director Mark Chambers said: “We hope film fans will be inspired. Not all heroes wear capes.”

The Health Department said: “Blood donors are real-life superheroes.”
