Royals draft Florida's Jac Caglianone with No. 6 pick

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KSNT) - The Kansas City Royals have added a big bat to their farm system.

Kansas City selected Florida star Jac Caglianone with the No. 6 pick in the MLB Draft on Sunday.

Caglianone was listed as a two-way player - an outfielder and left-handed pitcher - but MLB reporter Jeff Passan says the expectation is for the new Royal to be treated only as a hitter.

In the last two seasons with the Gators, Caglianone hit 68 home runs. He broke the Florida single-season home run record in 2023 with 33, outdoing his record in 2024 with 35, ending with a program career-record 75 home runs.

Caglianone hit for a .355 batting average in three seasons, a .419 batting average in 2024. He was named a first-team all-American by major websites D1Baseball, Baseball America and more.
