ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Louisiana State Police is seeking information about a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Rayne resident.

State police said Ryan Trahan was walking east in the westbound lane of Highway 90 around 6 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop, police said, and continued driving west.

Trahan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the vehicle involved is encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop I at 337-262-5800.

State police said practicing pedestrian safety is crucial when walking near and crossing roadways.

"By walking against the flow of traffic, pedestrians can effectively anticipate approaching vehicles. Additionally, during darker hours, choosing brightly colored attire or reflective accessories enhances visibility for drivers," state police said.
