Caleb Williams Was Throwing Absolute Dots At Charity Event

Rookies report to Chicago Bears training camp in only a few days. Caleb Williams returned to the city this past week in readiness for the action. However, before that, he had other business to take care of. It turns out Williams established his own charity, Caleb Cares, while he was in college. It is a foundation meant to raise money for anti-bullying and mental health awareness. This serves as an important reminder that Williams is much more than what he does on the football field. He wants to inspire change elsewhere.

Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reported on the event, noting that D.J. Moore, Ryan Poles, and Matt Eberflus were all present. The best part was what he did for the kids.

“Before Caleb Williams was scheduled to report to training camp Tuesday with the other Chicago Bears rookies, the quarterback was throwing passes to high school students in Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood on Saturday.

More than 700 people representing 12 Chicago schools packed the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park to greet Williams in the first Chicago event for his Caleb Cares Foundation.

Williams gave footballs to nine winners of the Caleb Cares Hero Awards, presented to students who model kindness, empathy and respect. He delivered them by launching them into the stands, where a few were caught to cheers.

The idea alone is a great gesture, but using his natural ability as a quarterback to deliver them is a nice touch. Yet the best part was the actual throws. Multiple videos popped up, and all seemed to have the same thing in common. Each of the throws was right on the money. It’s not like these were 10-yard tosses, either. All of them involved kids who were easily 20-25 yards away from where he was standing. It served as a good reminder of how accurate the Bears’ #1 pick is.

Caleb Williams will soon give fans another taste in camp.

Teammates and coaches alike are already buzzing about his natural ability from OTAs and minicamps. They can see how easy throwing the ball is for him. He also shows timing and anticipation that was there too often with Justin Fields. One can understand the excitement. Williams himself seems ready to get started. He’s heard the criticisms from experts and fans for months, calling out his character and ability as a quarterback. Nobody is more motivated to come out of the gates hot than he is.

One thing is certain. If he finds success in Chicago, that charity of his will rake in so much money from Bears fans. They’ve been starving for a good quarterback. Caleb Williams might be the best shot they’ve had in almost two decades. He has a great situation around him: an experienced coaching staff, talented skill players, and a relatively stable offensive line.
