Man apparently drowns in Tualatin River near Jurgens Park

A man apparently drowned in the Tualatin River at Jurgens Park early Sunday evening, officials said.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man apparently drowned in the Tualatin River at Jurgens Park early Sunday evening, officials said.

Around 5:40 p.m. TVFR was called to the scene after a man reportedly went under the water and didn't come back up. The water rescue team launched a boat, plus divers and drone support was used, TVFR's Jacob Fuhrer told KOIN 6 News.

The man's body was found about 35 minutes after the initial call was made. Emergency responders examined the man, who had already died before being found.

A chaplain was called to the scene. No further information is available at this time.
