Local brewery holds benefit for rescue animals

The Wolf Hollow Brewery Company held the Woofs at the Wolf benefit on Sunday. The goal of the fundraiser was to raise money for the Glenville Animal Protective Foundation, and awareness for rescue animals.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The Wolf Hollow Brewery Company held the Woofs at the Wolf benefit on Sunday. The goal of the fundraiser was to raise money for the Glenville Animal Protective Foundation, and awareness for rescue animals.

"My wife is a vendor here today and saw Lana [the dog] across the way and fell in love, played with her all day, and called me to come and pick her up so that we can take her home and adopt her," Zinnershine said.

The event brought in around $300 for the Animal Protective Foundation, and nearly $700 for a local dog rescue. Carducci said she plans to have the event again next year, to continue to raise money for animals in need.

The event featured food trucks, live music, and a raffle, along with vendors selling dog supplies. Event organizer, Stephanie Carducci said she put on the event in order to help get rescue animals sold.

"We're just trying to bring the community together and find some love for these animals that need it," Carducci said.

4 Paws Matter Rescue, brought six puppies to the event in hopes of selling them, after they were rescued along with their mom. They also raised money for the animals at their rescue. Holly, a member of the rescue, said the organization has been running for 9 years, and this event is a great way to spread awareness about rescue animals in need of homes.

"So we are trying to get these guys adopted, we are also raising funds to get mom up to date with where she needs to be to get adopted herself," Holly said.

With support from local vendors, such as Stelherdaiz Dog Treats, dog owners were able to buy dog supplies for their pets. Two people adopted the dogs for sale at the event. One of them, Michael Zinnershine, said event like this are crucial in keeping animals out of shelters and into permanent homes.
