Dan Friedkin could give Andy Bell and George Downing a slice of Everton in a move which would reduce the cost of the takeover for him, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Roma owner is pushing ahead with his purchase of Everton and will have to pay off the around £200m that Bell and Downing sent the club’s way for the new ground.

While Bell and Downing tried to buy the club as part of a bid that rivalled Friedkin’s, the American is keen to have them on board.

He wants the Everton fan pair to be part of the club’s new set-up to help with their knowledge and resources.

And Friedkin could let the pair take a slice of Everton in the repayment negotiations which would mean that the cost of the takeover would be less for him.

What the terms might be and how big the pair’s shareholding might be remains to be seen.

Friedkin does not want to just pay off the £200m and close the door on the pair and offering a slice of the club could help.

Also the Roma owner, Friedkin, will take the Italian club to Goodison Park next month to play a friendly against Everton.
