New fix row as Love Island fans claim star is being ‘protected by producers’
LOVE Island fans have shared their belief that one star is being given “special treatment” from the producers of the show.
As the series continues to ramp up towards the finale, fans of the show have grown to believe one star is getting a favoured edit.
After multiple potential matches and romantic connection, viewers think that the producers are sending in bombshells designed for Mimii Ngulube to couple up with – despite her ongoing on/off romance with Ayo Odukoya.
Speaking on Reddit, one fan wrote: “I know it gets thrown out that this is Joey Island but does anyone else think Mimii gets favoured by the producers more?”
“I noticed it first when her and Ayo got given a date on the night of the favourite couple vote,” they explained.
“Mimii’s been left single twice and the first time she got given a date with a bombshell and the second time she was exempt from the public vote.
“Whereas, Wil and Sam both got dumped the first time their partners were stolen by someone else.”
“Also 3 out of the 6 non-casa male bombshells have basically been sent in for Mimii,” the writer continued.
“Omar and Josh were both sent in after she had problems with Ayo. And Konnor chose her as one of his dates even though he said in his pre-interview that his top 3 were Grace, Nicole, and Uma.”
“This isn’t meant to be hate towards Mimii because she’s a fan favourite anyways and being protected by producers isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” they concluded.
Others quickly swooped into debate the topic, with many agreeing with what the poster was saying.
“I always felt that the producers were biased towards her so i feel like the producers must be annoyed that she still wants ayo after getting multiple options ,” replied one.
“I get why they’d invest time in her. Mimii was popular before the show even started,” said another. “Almost everything else they’ve tried has flopped including most of the couples but the Mimii fandom is holding strong.
“They’re probably trying to give her an Amber journey and hoping it makes for a satisfying ending. They don’t have much else to work with.”
“She’s the fan favourite so obviously she’s going to have air time?” argued another. “At the start, people complain that she didn’t get any and now that the story is more focused on her people are annoyed.”
Another fan jumped to the producers’ defence, and said: “She is favoured by the PUBLIC and the producers want to keep their jobs and if they don’t treat her right trust and believe we the Public will leave LI on mute.”
While others think she’s about to lose favouritism with the producers as her situation with Ayo continues to simmer.
Mimii has admitted that, despite coupling up with Josh, she still has a flame left for Ayo, who she was initially coupled up with when first entering the villa on day one.
And it appears he feels the same, despite being coupled up with Jessica Spencer
“Well.. the producers are about to throw their headset away because all that favour has led to nothing ” one joked.
On tonight’s episode, the islanders are taking part in the ‘Snog, Marry’ Pie’ challenge – causing some new drama.
In a preview clip, while a number of Islanders were seen getting pied in the face by a love rival, Love Island fans were mostly interested in a glimpse of Mimii snogging Ayo.
So it seems they might have some unfinished business to attend to
