I hated my sun-bleached garden sofa cushions so transformed them with Temu bargains – I’m so chuffed with the results

SHE hated the look of the sun-bleached cushions on her garden sofa, but couldn’t afford to get new ones.

So one savvy woman has shown how she gave them a total makeover for under £50, using bargains she got on Temu.

Amelia regularly shares crafty tips and tricks on her social media pages, and knew that her latest transformation would be a hit.

In the video, she shared a look at the woven patio set, with the grey cushions on the top looking almost white in parts where the sun had been shining on them.

So she went online, and came across some stretchy cushion covers on Temu for “around £4 each”.

“I had some Temu vouchers which made these super cheap and I also got a £17 price adjustment which made mine just under £50!” she said.

Amelia showed off the new sofa look, after having chosen bright white and green plant pattern cushion covers.

And the patio set looked good as new once she’d finished.

She had previously tried to give the cushions a new lease of life with some colour dye, but that “failed”.

And while she was “about a week off buying a new patio set”, she admitted it “felt like such a waste as we had barely sat at this one!”

After splashing out on the Temu covers, Amelia added she’s “so happy” with the finished look.

There’s only one problem – the covers don’t fit the smaller stool cushions particularly well, but Amelia insisted she’d “get some Velcro and make it work”.

Temu has overtaken Shein as one of the most popular online shopping sites, with people flocking there to nab home and garden bargains.

One shopper recently took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share her find, after stumbling across a hanging hot air balloon light that gave her garden fence a glow in an instant.

Why is Temu so cheap?

TEMU exploded onto the scene in late 2022, with people all over social media raving about the low prices.

The company is a Chinese-owned digital marketplace – essentially an online shopping app where people are connected to the retailer directly while the app takes care of the shipping element.

The frenzy over the app is not completely unfounded either as it offers a wide variety of products, including fashionmake-up, electronics and furniture.

According to a report from the US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Temu takes advantage of a trade loophole that allows the company to ship duty-free goods directly to the US.

The loophole is called the de minimis exception and it means they can ship goods valued up to $800 (£643) to the US without it being inspected or taxed by US customs.

Temu connects customers directly to manufacturers and only manages how the items are sent to customers.

It means Chinese vendors can essentially sell their products directly to customers and ship it without building a network of warehouses across the globe.

By doing this, they cut down on huge costs and ensure the product itself isn’t marked up extra.

While many of the products seen on the Temu app are from brands with extensive, original collections, many more are dupes of designer brands

“Fourth addition to my hot air balloon obsession,” she wrote, posting a snap of the £7 light in pride of place in her garden.

She added that she’s also picked up some of the hot air balloon lights from Aldi, B&M and Home Bargains.
