Shocking moment hero cop is hit by speeding quad bike before wrestling driver to the ground in heart racing sting
A HERO cop has been praised after courageously tackling a thug who tried to run him down on a speeding quad bike.
The male PC was part of a team of cops on a mission to tackle yobs terrorising a city’s streets on motorbikes and all-terrain vehicles.
Bystanders captured the moment the pack of around a dozen bikers tried to evade stingers placed across the road to puncture their tyres at a busy junction in Bradford, West Yorks.
The yobs managed to avoid the tyre traps and a quad is seen swerving straight at one uniformed officer.
But instead of jumping to safety, he stays in the path of the reckless rider and grabs hold of the criminal.
The quad races forward for a few heart-stopping yards but cop holds on and the rider is wrestled to the ground before a colleague on foot and officers in a patrol car arrive moments later to secure the arrest.
Footage from the dramatic collar was posted on a Facebook page dedicated to policing matters with the caption: “If that’s not a custodial sentence, I don’t know what is.”
One member said: “The officer is carved from granite.”
Another said: “The bravery of that officer is amazing.”
Yet another added: “That’s the sort of police force I want to see on the streets. Well done that man.”
